Ralph Fletcher Born in Bolton, son of John and Mary Fletcher, his father was a Coal Merchant and a partner in several pits including Atherton Collieries. Ralph became a Justice of the Peace in 1797 also a Colonel of the Bolton local Volunteers. It was with these two posts that he gained a reputation of ruthlessness and against workers collectives and reformers. He joined the Grand Orange Lodge and was their first Deputy Grand Master, he was the Grand Treasurer until death. Ralph married Jane Grundy in Bolton on the 21st February 1805 they had 7 children (3 boys, 4 girls). return to Officials page Last updated 03rd June 2017 |
